Budget-Friendly Lean-To Conservatory Replaces a Failing Structure With a Year-Round Room

The customer had an ageing conservatory that was no longer fit for use. It was tired, poorly built and slowly falling apart. They wanted a practical replacement that suited their budget and gave them a room they could enjoy again.

The Challenge:

The old conservatory had reached the end of its life. The base and walls were unreliable, and the room was cold and uninviting for most of the year. The property faces the road, so privacy was a real concern. There was also a low pitched roof line to work around, which limited the options. The brief was to put all of this right without overspending.

Our Approach:

We recommended a simple lean-to conservatory, which kept the cost sensible while suiting the style of the home. The base and walls were rebuilt properly, with brickwork chosen to match the existing house. On the road-facing side we added a full wall rather than glass. This gave the homeowner privacy, a surface to place furniture against, and much better insulation. They wanted to keep the lean-to shape, so we used their box gutter system to achieve this over the low pitched roof line. A solar glass roof keeps the room comfortable through the seasons.

The Results:

The space now works. What was once wasted space is comfortable and usable day to day. The full wall gives privacy from the road and a calmer feel inside. The matching brickwork ties the conservatory into the house, so it looks like it belongs. It has become an easy place to sit and relax, whatever the weather is doing outside.
