Perfected Rear and Side Extension Creates Bright, Year-Round Family Space

A growing family in need of a functional space approached us to replace their outdated conservatory with a full rear and side extension. The property required a high-spec build that would provide a modern open-plan kitchen-dining space and a separate utility area for everyday use.

The existing conservatory had become uncomfortably hot in summer and cold in winter, making it unusable. The kitchen area was cramped, and there was no dedicated utility space for laundry or pet care. The clients wanted to modernise their layout while retaining natural light, ensuring the new space felt open, welcoming and integrated with the rest of the home. Above all, they needed assurance that the investment would deliver long-term value, comfort, and energy efficiency.

We carried out a full build rear extension with a tiled Double Edwardian roof to ensure thermal efficiency, so it can be used year-round. The design removed part of the internal wall and an existing window to allow for an open-plan kitchen-dining area that flawlessly connected to the home. A side utility room was added, with durable flooring and practical access, ideal for managing pets and household chores. We also provided strategic window placement, including full-height glazing, to maximise daylight while maintaining privacy. Every decision, from insulation to internal layout, was made with comfort, compliance, and daily value in mind.

The finished project is a bright, insulated, and comfortable family extension. The new kitchen-dining area offers plenty of space for entertaining and family meals, while the utility room has become an essential part of daily life. The tiled roof ensures excellent temperature regulation throughout the seasons, and thoughtful layout changes have transformed the home’s flow.
