This project in Weymouth involved upgrading a tired hipped lean-to conservatory that was no longer fit for purpose. The aim was to create an insulated, usable living space that allowed the clients to enjoy their incredible views across the coast — all while staying within a sensible budget.
The Challenge:
The existing conservatory was too cold in winter, too hot in summer, and the old glazing and frames were starting to fail. The client wanted to improve the space without unnecessary future costs. Key considerations included retaining the much-loved roof shape, staying within budget, and enhancing the room’s functionality and connection to the garden.
Our Approach:
We proposed two options: 1) replace the roof only, or 2) replace both the roof and frames for long-term value. Our customer opted for a full upgrade to avoid repeat works. The design retained the original hipped lean-to shape, updated with a modern insulated tiled roof and new glazing throughout. A wide set of sliding doors were added to enhance garden access and maximise the stunning coastal view — all while reusing the existing base to keep costs controlled.
The Results:
The refreshed conservatory is now a beautifully insulated, bright space the clients can enjoy all year round. The wide sliding doors frame the incredible views over Weymouth perfectly, while the modern tiled roof provides excellent energy efficiency. The project delivered excellent long-term value for money, future-proofing the space for years to come.
