The customer had an old conservatory that had become completely unused due to extreme temperature changes. What should have been valuable living space had turned into a storage area. The aim was to replace it with a modern, insulated room that functioned as a true extension of the house.
The Challenge:
The existing conservatory was poorly constructed and suffered from long-standing heat and cold issues. It lacked proper foundations, insulation, and damp protection, making it unsuitable for year-round use. The customer wanted a space that felt solid, comfortable, and permanent rather than another temporary structure.
Our Approach:
We recommended removing the old conservatory entirely and starting again with a proper build. New footings and cavity walls were installed, along with full insulation and damp-proofing. A super insulated tiled roof was specified to deliver year-round comfort. We redesigned the roof to an apex style to increase ceiling height, making the room feel brighter, larger, and more open than the previous low structure. All internal finishes were completed, including plastering, electrics, and heating, so the space was ready to use immediately.
The Results:
The finished space feels like a true extension of the home rather than a separate add-on. The improved insulation and solid construction mean the room can be used comfortably all year. The increased ceiling height has transformed the feel of the space, creating a bright and welcoming environment that finally makes full use of the available footprint.
