This customer had an old lean-to conservatory that had become largely unused due to extreme temperature changes throughout the year. The aim was to make the space genuinely usable again while keeping costs controlled and avoiding unnecessary replacement work.
The Challenge:
The existing conservatory suffered from the classic issues of being too hot in summer and too cold in winter. While the roof was failing, the walls and frames were still in good condition. The client wanted a practical and cost-effective solution that retained the familiar feel of the space, including its higher pitched shape, without the expense of a full rebuild.
Our Approach:
We recommended replacing only the roof with a super insulated tiled system, using over 200mm of insulation to dramatically improve thermal performance. To keep costs down and preserve the internal proportions, we retained the existing raked frames and worked directly from them. This avoided the need for bespoke raked frame manufacturing while maintaining the height the client was used to. The entire installation was completed in just under two weeks to minimise disruption.
The Results:
The conservatory has been completely transformed into a comfortable, year-round usable room. The improved insulation has eliminated temperature extremes, allowing the client to repurpose the space as a dining area or home office. With minimal disruption and a fast turnaround, the project delivered maximum impact without the cost of a full replacement.
